It’s here, it’s here! The day has come y’all! You have no idea how ecstatic I am right now. Today is the day-how do I put it gently- we tear to smithereens our bathroom! You can’t even fathom how sublime it felt taking out that tile, tearing out those walls, those textures walls! Ok. Now that I got all that endorphin out of my system, I can start making sense now.

This week was all about the demo. We previously cleared everything out in week 2, prepared our workspace, and covered all the furniture that stayed in our room with painter’s plastic covers.
The Closet
We started in our master closet by taking out all the wire racking, (hoping to be replaced by a nicer closet system in the near future). Then the carpet was the next to go. Finally, here we poked some holes in the walls that were going to be taken out just to see more or less the plumbing plus the kids were very excited to participate in the pink bathroom massacre.
The Bathroom
We then moved to the master bath and removed our old vanity and teared down that wall which is adjacent to the closet. Creating our new opening for the new entry to our bathroom.
The Toilet
We continued to take out the remaining items. We decided to speed up the progress and took care of the toilet. First, we shut down all the valves flushed one last time and proceeded to disconnect it. Then we grabbed a big bag and put the toilet in it and carried it out. For a fun video on this and medical comparisons on the toilet disconnection, check out our IG @made.in.casita. Beware of the toilet juguito, the toilet may drip so careful when handling and remember this is a 2 person job.

The Shower
Then the guys carefully removed the glass from the shower and then proceeded to remove the shower wand fixture and after take the shower stall out. This was not as easy as it sounds.
The Tub
Last on the list was the jetted tub. We worked around that sucker and took it out in one swoop. Doesn’t it look more spacious without the deadly steps to hell?
All that was left was a huge mess but totally worth it. My favorite part? Destroying the textured walls!
Doesn’t that look a million times better, even in its raw nature?! More spacious! We also framed our new wall with the new entrance to the bathroom and closed the old entrance up. And finally, in preparation for the upcoming electrical work, we did a quick evaluation of our existing electrical and plumbing.
And that’s it for our week 3 update. I’d say we accomplished tons taking into account we’re trying to work with 6 kids around ranging from 12 years to 3 months! We have our minds set on our ultimate goal, a beautiful master bathroom retreat, and nothing is stopping us now! Thanks for joining us for our demo week – one room challenge week 3!
Go and check out how the other featured designers and awesome guest participants are doing in their spaces. We can’t wait to see how everyone else are chugging along this week.
