Before After
When we first moved into this house, I was eager to start making it our own; change those little things that I hated about it and make it prettier. It’s impossible to do everything at once so we had to take it one room at a time, so I thought to myself where would be a good place to start? Well, the entrance of the house of course.
Before, we had a plain entryway with no appeal at all, as you can see below in the picture.

There was just a plain table (mind you it was my husband’s bachelor furniture), 3 led candles, the bland tile floor with a dark rug and that oh so horrible mirror sliding doors on the closet. Ugh, I hated it! The only good thing about it was that I could get a last full-body glimpse of how I looked before walking out the door, but besides that, it had nothing else going for it so it had to go!
So, what did we do?
For the Mirror Closet
First, we took out the mirror doors (hooray!) and removed the hanging racks that were there. We painted the back wall to have a little pop of color. Then we bought a bench with some storage to put it in the now nook, so people are able to sit while they take their shoes off.

We found some cute pillows for the bench and a sign to hang on the wall. However, we still needed a place to hang our coats, so we bought a little coat rack, additionally, my husband also built a shelf with hanging capacity to add more dimension to the space and more hanging area (because you need space in a growing family). We then found some nice hangers to finish the space.

Under the Stairs
We bought a new console table and decorated it with some vases, greenery, some pictures, a mirror, a nicer set of led candles, decorative boxes and a little treasure chest and rosary that we used for our wedding. Finally, placed a new rug to finish the space.

Note: Notice the difference in flooring and staircase between the before and after pictures? During the process of updating our foyer, we were simultaneously changing our floors all throughout our main floor. After that project, we tackled updating the staircase. Posts about these projects will be coming soon!
And there you have it, those were the steps we took to turn our boring entryway into a more appealing and functional foyer. These are simple things that anyone can do to freshen up the space. If you don’t want to spend a lot of money you can reuse any old piece of furniture that you have and give it a face lift. Follow this guide for painting tips!
