fall one room challenge 2021 the basic week 1

Fall One Room Challenge Week 1 – The Basics

That’s right, you read it correctly, we came back for more. We are doing another One Room Challenge on the blog this fall, to continue the ORC Spring space saga, (Marian’s master bathroom) which you can read about here.

Despite not being able to complete the challenge within 8 weeks’ time, granted it was quite an undertaking, completely DIYing the entire bathroom project while still dealing with our already hectic lives. But it was well worth the wait. If you want to know what we are talking about just go here and see our “novela” during our Spring One Room Challenge.

If you are new here you might be wondering, what is this one room challenge you speak of? Well, it’s an awesome event where designers, DIYers, decorators, artists, and basically anybody come together to renovate or update one space of their choice and share their progress each week while cheering each other on. For more details on the event, perks and info just click here. Overall is one big adventure where you learn from others and yourself.

But this is another adventure that we are embarking on today. On our last endeavor in this challenge, we tackled our master bath and part of our master closet as both were hand in hand because of the weird layout.

See what we mean.

We already took on the master bath. This time we are addressing our much-needed master closet. Now this space is small and we have a lot of stuff and a hefty wish list. It’s definitely time for part 2 of The Purge, whilst Tidying Up with Marie Kondo plays in the background, as we day drink no-longer-in-style closet pieces away to the donating pile.

Our challenge

Trying to figure how to optimize functional storage and organization within this space and make it look beautiful and cohesive with our bathroom since both spaces flow continuously.

We will document our journey and experiences (good and bad) and share with you everything that we learn along the way.

The Before

Here we have the before pictures. As we mentioned before we did work a little bit on this space while working on our master bath. But this is how it used to look like. Since we wanted to run the same floors seemingly from the bathroom to the closet we already tiled. But we’ll share those pictures later 😉

The Current State

As for now, we are starting with a blank canvas. Floor tiled, room primed and freshly painted, an artist’s dream or nightmare depending on the level of inspiration. So this is what we have to work with and as for our plan and design, we will share later on. So stay tuned for that and more.

Well, that’s it! If you don’t mind the sounds of loud toddlers, babies, and kids in the background follow us in our stories on Instagram as well.

Let’s go! Let the adventure begin!
